This highly praised rose was once the highest rated rose by the AARS (back in the 90s). I don't keep up with rose ratings anymore so I'm not sure how it ranks today. I have found that the rose has been an okay performer in our garden but nothing to write home about. It is not very disease resistant and always get a bad case of blackspot with leaves dropping everywhere. The flowers are indeed very lovely and bloom in clusters that reappear throughout the season. I grow it as a shrub rose but most often it is referred to as a climbing rose. Perhaps growing in an uncluttered area and trained on a support, it would do better.
