Bloom Time - Late spring, sporadic blooms through Fall
Color - Red
Foliage - Blue-green, 2-3" long
Size - Climbs to 10+ feet
Exposure - Full sun to part shade
Culture - Easy to grow in rich, humusy soil in full sun. It is also flower in partial shade but the blooms will not be as profuse. Pruning, if done at all, should be performed immediately after flowering in late spring. The twining canes need a support such as a fence or archway. Red berries form in late summer although they have not been profuse in our garden. Leaves usually hang on through mild winters. Hummingbirds and butterflies love it!
This is a native plant to the Southeast.
