Jacob's Ladder

Foliage - Pinnately compound leaves with oval leaflets are arranged like the rungs of a ladder (hence the common name)

Culture - This is a charming woodland plant that grows best in humusy, well-drained soil in partial shade. Use it along pathways or in rock gardens. The flowers appear in loose clusters on a mounding plant.
Be on the lookout for new and unique varieties. "Touch of Class" (pictured below) is a wonderful variety with variegated foliage.
