Begonia, Dragon Wing
(Begonia)
Hardy to Zone 10
Bloom Time - Summer
Colors - Red
Foliage - Glossy dark-green leaves
Size - 1 - 2 feet tall and wide
Exposure - Part shade (will tolerate sun but needs afternoon shade)
Culture - Grow in pots in beds. Soil should be rich, consistently moist and well-drained. Set out plants after danger of frost and fertilize about every 2-3 weeks with a general balance fertilizer or a fertilizer that promotes blooms. Cuttings can be taken in late fall or plants can be cut back and overwintered in a basement or garage.
Comments - This is one my favorite annuals. For color and dramatic impact, it can't be beat. I have a hard time finding plants in small packs and they tend to be offered more in larger pots, which can be expensive. I have successfully overwintered pots in the basement. This is easy to grow and so beautiful!
