I love the name of this rose! There is some confusion about the "Jacques Cartier" name and it is generally assumed that the latter rose is actually the same as "Marchesa Boccella". This is a Portland rose and this class tends to do well in colder climates. However, it so far has performed admirably in our garden (it is located in the bankside bed along our front street). The blooms are exquisite, large blossoms with swirling petals that surround a button eye. As with most old European roses, the scent is intoxicating.
