New Dawn is an exceptional rose in all respects and was voted the World's Favorite Rose in 1997. It is not hard to see why. This is a superb rose with many highly desirable attributes, the most important being the beautiful pale pink flowers that cover it in spring and throughout the summer. It can be used as a climber or as a shrub and is beautiful either way. As a climber, it will climb to 20' ft. or more and looks wonderful on pergolas and other large structures. Equally beautiful as a shrub, it will form a mounding shape 5' ft. high and 6' - 8' ft. wide.
Other great qualities include iron clad hardiness, excellent disease resistance (I've never sprayed mine) and, best of all, an ability to stop traffic. A definite "10" in the rose world - no rose garden should be without it!
New Dawn was was the first rose to be patented in 1930 after the Plant Patent Act was passed.
Sports of New Dawn include a stronger pink named "Awakening" and the creamy yellow "Weisse New Dawn."
